Public Transport in and around Blaxhall

Blaxhall is served by a regular and reasonably frequent bus service provided by three operators in conjunction with some local authority support. The service has been changed again, but there is a journey planner provided by Suffolk Coastal, which works admirably well.

It has been reported that some services may be reduced or withdrawn due to lack of use, so please try to ride buses occasionally or they may not be there to ride at all!

Blaxhall is also served by a community bus, details as and when I can get hold of them. If in doubt there is a helpline for travel enquiries, Traveline, on 08706 082608, 8am to 8pm daily.

This newsletter has some interesting information about the SCDC voucher scheme.

The nearest train station is at Campsea Ashe (see the Maps section) which is about a 45 minute walk from the centre of the village. It is listed as Wickham Market on the timetables in spite of being some 3 miles from there! One Railways run the service, and they have a downloadable timetable in pdf format.

For a comprehensive national timetable service the National Rail Enquiries site is very good. The traditional service north to Lowestoft and south to Ipswich has recently been augmented by a straight through run to Liverpool Street Station, London. Tickets can be bought from the One Railways site, or from other online shops such as Qjump. Alternatively, Saxmundham station has a shop where tickets can be bought.
